Mendy joins Manchester City from Monaco

Manchester City on Monday announced the signing of Benjamin Mendy from Monaco to a five-year deal.

The 23-year-old France international is Pep Guardiola’s third defensive acquisition in the off-season after Kyle Walker and Danilo.

He will wear the number 22 shirt, the club said in a statement on its website.

Mendy, an integral part of the title-winning and fairy tale Uefa Champions league run of Monaco, is expected to join up with the rest of the team in USA as they gear up for the new season.

City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, said: “Benjamin has all the qualities we are looking for in a full-back. For such a young player, he has a wealth of top-level experience.
