Nigeria youth international Umar Sadiq has confirmed his return to Italian Serie A giants AS Roma after a season-long loan spent at Bologna.
While at Bologna, Sadiq could not meet the expectations of many as he could only make seven league appearances without netting a single goal.
The 20-year-old, while speaking with Liberty Radio, attributed his poor run of form at Bologna to fitness issues confirming his readiness to give his carrer a new lease of life at the capital-based club.
“My loan spell with Bologna didn’t go too well. Injuries slowed me down,” Sadiq told Liberty Radio.
“I’m fully fit now and back at Roma. Hopefully I will travel to team up with them for pre season,” he said.
“There’s a new coach at Roma and that means a fresh start for everybody,” he added.
“I’m eager, fully fit and rearing to prove my worth to him if given the chance in pre season.”
Roma signed Sadiq from Serie B side Spezia at the end of the 2015/16 season for a fee worth around £2 million.
