French Ligue 1 side, Nantes have confirmed the signing of former Leicester City manager Claudio Raineri after his clearance by the Ligue Football Professionnel (LFP).
LFP had previously halted the Italian’s managerial appointment due to the new rule they introduced which stipulates that head coaches to be appointed in the league must be under the age of 65.
Raineri, 65, was excused of this rule and has now put pen to paper a two-year deal to be manager at the club.
The Italian has been jobless since his sack from Leicester City in February, few months after leading the side to an unbelievable and emphatic title winning campaign.
Raineri could boast of some experience in the Ligue 1 as he was the manager of one of the league’s giants AS Monaco between 2012 and 2014.
The former Leicester City boss will surely be gunning to have a repeat of what he experienced as manager of City in the 2015/16 season when they overturned all odds to win the EPL title.
Nantes finished seventh in the Ligue 1 log in the just concluded season and the objective to be set before Raineri next season will surely be to push them up to European competition qualification places.
