Recently capped Super Eagles player Henry Onyekuru has confirmed transfer speculations that has linked him to a move to Arsenal, stating the North London club are one of the numerous clubs interested in his signature this summer transfer market.
Onyekuru also said he is hopeful of making a decision on his future after his national assignment for the Super Eagles against South Africa in Uyo on June 10.
The Aspire academy graduate claims he would love a move to Arsenal if a deal is brokered, stating he has been a passionate fan of the club since his childhood days.
The Eupen forward also revealed that his idol and role model is no one else but Arsenal’s legend Thierry Henry.
Onyekuru, speaking through the official website of the Nigeria Football Federation, thenff.com, said:
”Thierry Henry has always been my idol since I was a kid. I was watching him play, watching Arsenal and going to YouTube to watch most of his games,” The forward disclosed to thenff.com.
”I remember saying if I had to move to the Premier League I want to be like Thierry Henry, so it’s likely to come true and I’m looking towards it at the moment.”
The 19-year-old added :
”It’s a good feeling for a club like Arsenal to make a bid for me, this is due to my hard work in training and games.
”I am waiting and working towards it and we’ll see how it goes after the qualifiers.”
Onyekuru officially made his debut for the senior national team of Nigeria during the teams international friendly tie with Togo on Thursday. He would be in high hopes to make a competitive debut for Nigeria when the Eagles take on South Africa on June 10.
