Controversies and reactions trailed the release of the squad meant to prosecute the AFCON qualifier tie between the Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
The likes of Chelsea superstar Victor Moses, team captain John Obi Mikel, China-based strikers Brown Ideye and Odion Ighalo were left out of the team roaster for the tie.
It was reported that the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr excluded Moses from the squad due to a toe injury.
A reliable source has now clarified issues, suggesting the wing-back’s absence is due to fatigue.
The source claimed the 26-year-old is in a good physical condition and would have been fit for the qualifier against Bafana Bafana if he made himself available for selection.
”Victor Moses is not injured, he was playing for Chelsea before the season ended. He pulled out of the squad as he was too tired after a strenuous season,” a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com .
”Moses will be arriving Lagos on June 14th for his summer vacation, so won’t be in Uyo for the game.”
The attacker’s commitment to national duty has often times been questioned with the latest coming in the wake of the Super Eagles tie against Algeria.
The dashing forward, however, gave fans some reasons to change perception in that match as he scored a brace in the 3-1 demolition of the Foxes late last year.
