Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Rivers United have strengthened their squad in a bid to effectively compete domestically and in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Five new players, including a Malian, have been added to the squad list after contract offers have been agreed by the players.
Stanley Eguma, the club’s coach, will hope this new signings bring some vigour to their Nigeria Professional Football League campaign. The Rivers State-based club had a poor start to the league campaign after finishing 2nd-placed last season.
Former U23 Nigeria youth international Ayo Saka headlines the the list of the new players.
John Odimegwu, Ifeanyi Okoye, Semiu Liadi and Malian striker Kanoute makes up the five-man signing.
NPFL veteran Ayo Saka joins the club from Sunshine Stars of Akure, Odimegwu links up with United from League pace-setters Plateau United.
Midfielder Ifeanyi Okoye was signed from Niger Tornadoes, while Semiu Liadi moved from Akwa United.
Kanoute, a Malian striker , was signed from the West African country and it is believed that he will be a hit at the Nigerian League.
