CAF CC: Rivers United Advance Into Group Stage

Stanley Eguma’s – lead side advanced into the group stage of the CAF Confedrations Cup following a goalless draw at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda on Saturday.

Rayon Sports were defeated by Rivers United FC at the Liberation Stadium,Port-Harcourt in the first leg of the tie two nil- one from E. Atuloma (29) and the other from G. Kuemain (51).

Rayon Sports wasted a lot of chances to score while Rivers United hold firm to their defensive tactics. The Rwandan side got an advantage of one extra man when  a Rivers United player was red-carded in the second half but failed to capitalise on this.

On the 26th of April the group stage draw will take place at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo.

The sixteen teams will be drawn into four groups, which each group with have four teams.

The top placed team and the runner up of each group will advance into the quarter-finals of the knockout stage.
