EXCLUSIVE: Why Mikel Obi’s Valencia move failed

Newly signed Tianjin TEDA Midfieler John Obi Mikel was about to close on a deal with La Liga side Valencia. Unfortunately and so the surprise of some, the deal fell through.

soccerblitz.net broke the news of Mikel’s meeting with Valencia’s Sporting Director late last year but according to our sources Mikel couldn’t sign for the team due to the fact they they could not afford the price the Super Eagles International asked for.

Mikel also had to consider his net take-home due to the heavy task rate in Spain this made him receive offers elsewhere and Tianjin came knocking with a mouth offering offer which was hard to resist.

Mikel Obi’s wage at Chinese Super League side Tianjin TEDA is tax free pocketing a whopping 140k pounds a week making him the highest earning Nigerian football so far in 2017.

After spending 10 and half years at Chelsea, Mikel fell out of favour with Coach Anthio Conte and had little or no playing time at satmford bridge. This triggered Mikel to look for playing time somewhere else. He joins other football stars such as Carlos Tevez, Alex Witsel who have gone to ply their trade in the money flowing Chinese Super League
