Arsenal have denied making a club record £55million bid for Italy international Andrea Belotti, according to claims by Metro.
Torino’s sporting director claimed yesterday that the Serie A club had turned down a €65m bid from the Gunners for the striker.
Belotti, 23, has scored 13 goals in 16 league games this season and any move for him would top the £42m Arsene Wenger’s side paid for Mesut Ozil in 2013.
However, according to the Press Association, the Gunners have denied that they’ve made a bid for the Italian forward and say there’s no truth in the claims.
Wenger was under huge pressure to buy a striker this season and brought in Deportivo forward Lucas Perez on a £17m deal.
However, the Frenchman’s often used Alexis Sanchez in a central position, though Olivier Giroud has recently come back into the side with great effect.
