Enyimba have signed experienced Ghanaian goalkeeper Fatau Dauda and defender Tijani Joshua to beef up their squad ahead of the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
“The People’s Elephant lost goalkeepers Femi Thomas, Moses Ocheje and a former U-17 stopper, Joshua Enaholo, for different reasons in this transfer window, leaving the club with just one senior goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai.
“The 2008 Goalkeeper of the Year in Ghana (Fatau) was last on the books of Ghana Premier League outfit Ashanti Gold SC,” it said. Enyimba have also reportedly signed defender Tijani Joshua from Ghanaian club Ashanti Gold, to further beef up the squad ahead of the new season.
Enyimba will take on Sunshine Stars FC of Akure on January 15 in their Match Day 1 fixture of the new league season.
Meanwhile, Enyimba Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote has named Mfon Udoh the club’s new captain after the departure of Chinedu Udoji.
Udoh , who finished last season as the CAF Champions League top scorer, holds the record for the most goals scored in a single NPFL season, but struggled with fitness last term as the People’s Elephant finished last term in 10th spot.
